Leader: When you pray, say this:
People: Our Father who art in heaven:
Leader: Father. Not the name of a distant, terrifying and all powerful being, but the name of one who has been with us, loving us, from the very beginning. God, who is dreaming of what we might be, what we might bring, and longing for us to come near.
People: Remind us this day that you are not only creation's architect, but you are the babe who cried for food, the teenager who knew loneliness, the adult who felt the rejection of loved ones and the loving parent of them all.
Leader: For God, our Father, loves us so much that we are given God’s only Son.
People: So that we might know forgiveness and life, and the love only you, who created us all and knew us in our mothers’ wombs, can give.
Leader: When we pray, we say this:
People: Our Father who art in heaven, be with us this day, move through our worship and through our hearts, open our minds and our ears, inspire our souls and give us the courage to be witnesses to your love when we leave this place and go out into your world. We pray this in the name of your son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
